What you stop doing
Walnut Creek lives on the far side of the hills from the fog, and the weather swings with the season: hundred-degree afternoons in Northgate and Ygnacio Valley in August, frost on the lawns in Walnut Heights and Rudgear in January. A hose bath in either is no fun. The comfort point of a Walnut Creek groom is the warm water the van carries, in its own heated tank, so the bath runs warm from the first rinse to the last on a cold morning, and in summer the groomer works in the shade of the van instead of the sun on the driveway. The driveways themselves are the easy part: the ranch homes of Northgate, Woodlands and Carriage Square have long, flat ones. In Rossmoor the van is a guest, so the gate needs to know it is coming. In the condos around the BART station and downtown we ask for the guest space or the loading zone and settle it before the day. Your dog never rides anywhere.

NotesPick a day, pick a time, tell us about your dog. Done. We confirm the day before.
Your groomer texts when they are on the way, then the van pulls up to your curb with its own warm water and power. No drive, no cages, no waiting room.
One groomer, one dog, start to finish. No other dogs, no crate, no rushing. You get on with your day.
About 120 min · about 180 for large dogsClean coat, trimmed nails, clean ears, fully dry, and a tail that will not stop wagging. Both handoffs together take about five minutes.
In our example salon morning, about 2 h 30 min goes to driving, traffic and the counter. With Wow My Dog, the groom happens at your curb while you get on with your day: about 5 min of handoffs, so about 2 h 30 min back.

I used Wow for the 1st time about 8 weeks ago and loved the results and felt the groomer (Camilio) really did an exceptional job. A neighbor is now going to try them also on my recommendation. Eva has never smelled so good!

Wow! My dog is an amazing service. They come to you with a groomer that is skilled and kind. My dog, Ms. Lady, loves them so much that when she sees their familiar grooming van she becomes so excited. The quality of the final grooming is excellent, I feel like a dad wanting to share my kid's wallet pics. I highly recommend!

Snapshot 01 · Parks
Walnut Creek's dog park is the one-acre fenced area at the north end of Heather Farm Park, split into a small and senior side for dogs under 30 pounds and a large-dog side, with parking and restrooms beside it. It opens at 8 a.m. and closes at dusk every day except Thursday, when it opens at noon after maintenance; the Turf Hotline, 925-256-3574, says whether it is open. The rules: a leash in hand for every dog, on and off only inside the double gate, no more than three dogs per adult, no puppies under four months, collars with tags. The city asks visitors to park at the dog park itself, out of respect for the neighbors.

Snapshot 02 · Trails
The city's Open Space Division manages more than 3,000 acres in four areas plus seven miles of neighborhood trails. Shell Ridge is the big one, 1,420 acres and 31 miles of trail with the historic Borges Ranch inside it; Lime Ridge adds 1,226 acres and 25 miles, Acalanes Ridge 202 and Sugarloaf 177. On the trails of Shell Ridge, Acalanes, Sugarloaf and Lime Ridge north of Ygnacio Valley Road, dogs may run off leash under positive voice and sight command, which the city defines as seeing your dog at all times and having them come back the moment you call. The leash goes on in picnic areas, at historic sites, in the lots and along the street, and central Lime Ridge south of Ygnacio Valley Road is closed to dogs as protected habitat. Open from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset.

Snapshot 03 · Access
Downtown Walnut Creek meters run 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week: $2 an hour with a three-hour limit at the green meters in the core, $1 an hour with a ten-hour limit at the purple poles north, south and west of it. The Broadway, Lesher Center and South Locust garages are open around the clock, with the first hour free and $1.25 an hour after that, and monthly passes are sold at the garages. A groom runs about two hours, so a green meter covers it for a downtown condo, but we would rather use your building's guest space or loading area. Tell us which when you book and the groomer plans the stop before setting out.
Parking downtown, City of Walnut CreekGroomer's note, coat care around Walnut Creek: Shell Ridge and Lime Ridge are dry grassland from May to October, and an off-leash dog brings the hills home: dust in the undercoat, foxtails in the ears and between the toes, burrs in the feathering. From the first rains the same trails turn to clay, and the creek through Heather Farm adds its own mud. A warm-water bath, full blow-out and brush-through at your driveway clears it. Heavy shedders get extra time on the blow-out through the hot months, and doodle-type coats stay on a regular haircut schedule so burrs never get a hold between visits.

All of Walnut Creek: Downtown and the blocks around the BART station, Northgate, Walnut Heights, Rudgear, Parkmead and Carriage Square, Saranap and Tice Valley on the west side, Rossmoor, Lakewood, the Woodlands, Larkey Park, San Miguel and Ygnacio Valley. Pleasant Hill, Concord, Lafayette, Alamo and Danville are on our routes too, so a border street is no problem. Share your full address when you book and we confirm it.
Yes. Rossmoor is gated, so the van arrives as your guest: call it in at the gate the way you would any service visit, or tell us your community's guest procedure when you book, and the groomer parks in your carport apron or a guest space for about 120 minutes. The van carries its own warm water and power, so it needs nothing from your unit, and the groomer texts when they are on the way. Travel is included in the groom price for every Walnut Creek address, Rossmoor included.
In summer it fills the coat with dust, burrs and foxtails, and in winter with clay. Foxtails are the one to watch: your groomer checks the ears, armpits, belly and between the toes at every visit and tells you if one has worked in. Every four to six weeks suits most Shell Ridge regulars, with a bath-only visit in between after a muddy week, and the groom starts with a long warm-water rinse before shampoo so the grit lifts instead of being dragged through the coat. Heavy shedders get extra time on the blow-out through the hot months.
Yes, at every Walnut Creek address, Rossmoor and the downtown condos included. Cat grooming happens in the same quiet, self-contained van, one-on-one with no dogs around: a Cat Bath is a flat $140 and a Cat Bath + Haircut a flat $180, flat, with no surprises at the door. Carry your cat out in a carrier, the groomer takes it from there, and a long-haired cat that sheds through the hot Diablo Valley summer does especially well on a regular schedule.
