What you stop doing

Bath Day, Minus Everything You Hate About It

Modesto homes mostly sit on flat lots with a driveway out front, from the older streets of La Loma and the College Area to the newer ones in Village One and Dutch Hollow, and a driveway is all the van needs. Your dog skips the ride down McHenry Avenue or Highway 99, the wait in a salon lobby and the second trip to collect. Instead the groomer comes to the door, walks your dog to the van for a one-on-one groom and brings them home clean. Valley weather makes the case too. Summer afternoons stay hot well into September, and winter brings weeks of fog and damp lawns. The van carries its own warm water and power, so the bath is warm on a foggy January morning and the groom happens indoors, out of the July sun. In leaf season, tell us where the piles are on your street when you book, and the groomer parks around them.

No crawl on McHenry Avenue or Highway 99.

The groom happens at your curb, so the drive, the drop-off and the pickup fall off your to-do list.

The four steps

Notes
  1. Step 1

    Book in Two Minutes

Pick a day, pick a time, tell us about your dog. Done. We confirm the day before.

  2. Step 2

    We Come to Your Door

Your groomer texts when they are on the way, then the van pulls up to your curb with its own warm water and power. No drive, no cages, no waiting room.

  3. Step 3

Your Dog Gets the Whole Van

One groomer, one dog, start to finish. No other dogs, no crate, no rushing. You get on with your day.

About 120 min · about 180 for large dogs
  4. Step 4

Back in Your Arms, Fresh and Dry

Clean coat, trimmed nails, clean ears, fully dry, and a tail that will not stop wagging. Both handoffs together take about five minutes.

In our example salon morning, about 2 h 30 min goes to driving, traffic and the counter. With Wow My Dog, the groom happens at your curb while you get on with your day: about 5 min of handoffs, so about 2 h 30 min back.

We LOVE the services our dog, Darwin, got. Darwin is a 12-year old Siberian husky, super sensitive. Our groomer Lucas was able to earn Darwin's trust and let Lucas clean him. Lucas did a wonderful job and we will be using his services again.

Wow! This is hands down the best grooming Winston has ever had! Thank you so much, Patricia, for making him look like the cutest little rock star, pumpkin, sweet cake! We have officially found our new groomer. The booking process was super easy too, which made the whole experience even better. I couldn't be happier, highly recommend!

Thank you **Lucas David** for doing such a fabulous job grooming my German Shepherd, Tilly. This was her first professional groom, so she was nervous but you handled her perfectly. And you managed to trim her nails!!! Wow, I'm so impressed and happy. Thanks again!

Dog Life in Modesto

Real parks, real trails, and what they do to a coat. Notes from the groomer's side of the van.

Snapshot 01 · Trails

4.2 miles on an old rail line

The Virginia Corridor Trailway follows the old Tidewater Southern Railway line for 4.2 miles, from Needham Avenue to Bangs Avenue, with picnic areas, shade structures and gardens along the way. Graceada Park sits on Needham Avenue, where the trailway begins, so the park and the first stretch of trail make an easy morning loop together. Go early in summer while the shade still holds, and check the pads when you get home; dust and leaf bits from the planted edges are what usually come back in the coat.

Snapshot 02 · River

Creek to river on 17 miles of trail

The city has built 17 miles of dedicated bike and pedestrian trails, and the longest ones follow water. The Peggy Mensinger Trail runs 4.5 miles through Dry Creek Regional Park, from Moose and Kewin parks out to Claus Road, and the Tuolumne River Regional Park's Riverwalk Trail adds 1.5 miles at Gateway Park and 2.7 miles at Mary Grogan Grove. Creek walks mean wet paws, burrs and the odd surprise swim. Your groomer floats the grit out with a long warm-water rinse before the shampoo, then dries the coat right down to the skin.

Leaf piles and sweep week

Modesto looks after some 81,000 street and park trees, and in late fall their leaves land on the street. Through December, and sometimes into January, residents pile leaves 18 inches out from the curb for city crews, who work without a set schedule; streets are swept once a month, within 48 hours of the large yard-trimmings pickup. For the van that means one thing: a leaf pile can sit right where it would park. The driveway is the first choice anyway, and if the curb is the only option, mention the pile when you book.

City of Modesto leaf collection

Groomer's note, coat care around Modesto: Modesto coats collect the year in layers. Spring brings pollen from all those street trees, summer brings dust and foxtails from the dry grass along the creek trails and orchard edges, and those barbed seed heads hide in ears, noses and between the toes, so the groomer checks there every time. In winter the fog keeps a thick coat damp for days, and that is when mats start close to the skin. A warm-water bath and a full brush-out clears each season's load, and doodles and long coats stay easy on a regular trim schedule.

Pre-groom checklist · Modesto
Which parts of Modesto do you come to?

All of them inside our Modesto ZIP codes: Downtown and the streets around Graceada Park, the College Area, La Loma, Sylvan, Village One, Dutch Hollow, the Airport District and West Modesto. Salida, Ceres, Ripon and Turlock are on the same routes. Travel comes included in the groom price for every address in the area, so just share the full address when you book and we confirm it.

My dog swims in Dry Creek and the Tuolumne. How often should we groom?

Every four to six weeks is a good starting point for a regular swimmer, sooner for a long or double coat. Creek and river water leaves silt and plant bits deep in the coat, and a coat that stays damp underneath mats fast, so rinse your dog with fresh water after a swim and dry the ears. In summer, check paws and ears for foxtails after every walk along the dry banks. At each visit your groomer gives a long warm-water rinse, a full blow-dry down to the skin and a careful look at ears and feet.

There's a leaf pile in front of our house. Can the van still come?

Yes. The van parks in your driveway whenever there is one, so a pile at the curb rarely matters. If the street is the only spot, tell us when you book and the groomer finds a space nearby; the van brings its own warm water and power and stays about 120 minutes, closer to 180 for a large dog. Please leave the pile where the city crews expect it rather than moving it for us.

Do you groom cats in Modesto?

Yes, at every Modesto address we cover. Cat grooming happens in the same calm van, one groomer and one cat, no dogs on board. A Cat Bath is a flat $140 and a Cat Bath + Haircut a flat $180, with the same care as our matching dog packages. Long-haired cats tend to mat when the winter fog keeps the house damp, so a steady schedule helps; bring yours out in a carrier and the groomer goes at your cat's pace.
