What you stop doing

Bath Day, Minus Everything You Hate About It

Elk Grove was built around the driveway. From the lake streets of Laguna West and Lakeside to the newer blocks of Laguna Ridge, Franklin Reserve and Sheldon, almost every home has a two-car driveway or a garage apron, and that is where the van parks. Your dog walks out the front door, into the van and back, with no ride down Elk Grove Boulevard and no wait at a salon off Highway 99. The seasons are the other reason. Summers here run hot and dry, winter mornings come with fog, and neither suits a hose in the backyard. The van carries its own warm water, so the bath is warm on a January morning and the whole groom happens inside the van, out of the July sun. If you live behind a gate in a private community, send the gate code and the guest-parking rule when you book, and we plan the spot before the day.

No crawl on Highway 99 or Elk Grove Boulevard.

We Groom. You Get Your Day.

The groom happens at your curb, so the drive, the drop-off and the pickup fall off your to-do list.

The four steps

Notes
  1. Step 1

    Book in Two Minutes

Pick a day, pick a time, tell us about your dog. Done. We confirm the day before.

  2. Step 2

    We Come to Your Door

Your groomer texts when they are on the way, then the van pulls up to your curb with its own warm water and power. No drive, no cages, no waiting room.

  3. Step 3

Your Dog Gets the Whole Van

One groomer, one dog, start to finish. No other dogs, no crate, no rushing. You get on with your day.

About 120 min · about 180 for large dogs
  4. Step 4

Back in Your Arms, Fresh and Dry

Clean coat, trimmed nails, clean ears, fully dry, and a tail that will not stop wagging. Both handoffs together take about five minutes.

In our example salon morning, about 2 h 30 min goes to driving, traffic and the counter. With Wow My Dog, the groom happens at your curb while you get on with your day: about 5 min of handoffs, so about 2 h 30 min back.

Snapshot 01 · Parks

Five district dog parks, dawn to dusk

Elk Grove's dog parks belong to the Cosumnes Community Services District, and there are five: Elk Grove Park on Elk Grove-Florin Road, Laguna Community Park on Bruceville Road, McConnell Park on Hampton Oak Drive, and Morse Community Park and Oasis Park on the west side, which both keep small dogs and large dogs apart. All five open from dawn until dusk and close for events, turf work and wet weather. Decomposed granite and dry-season dust are what ride home in the coat, and a week of park mornings is usually what puts the bath on the calendar.

Snapshot 02 · Trails

A 1.4-mile loop under the old oaks

Elk Grove Regional Park is 127 acres of valley oaks that the town bought for itself in 1903, five dollars a share, to keep them from being cut for lumber. The county added a 7.5-acre lake with Pirate's Island in the middle, and the district has since added a 1.4-mile multi-use trail, a disc golf course and the off-leash dog park. The leash stays on everywhere but inside the dog-park fence. Oak leaf litter and lake-edge mud are the park's signature in a coat, and the trail is flat enough that a senior dog can do the whole loop.

Sweep day, gates and Old Town curbs

The city sweeps residential streets once a month and asks you to move cars by 6 a.m. on sweep day, with extra leaf sweeps from November through February; private and gated communities are not swept by the city, because those streets are their own. For the groom that means two things. If sweep day is groom day, the van uses your driveway, which it would anyway. If you live behind a gate, your association sets the guest-parking rule, so send the gate code and the spot with your booking. The short blocks of Old Town along Elk Grove Boulevard are the one place we ask about the curb in advance.

Groomer's note, coat care around Elk Grove: Elk Grove coats take the valley seasons in turn. In summer the dry grass along the creeks and greenbelts throws foxtails, the barbed seed heads that work into ears, noses and the skin between the toes, so the groomer combs feet and ears closely on every visit. In winter the fog keeps a thick coat damp for days and lets mats start close to the skin. A warm-water bath and a full blow-out in your driveway clears both, and long and doodle-type coats stay on a regular trim schedule so the matting never gets ahead of you.

Pre-groom checklist · Elk Grove
Which parts of Elk Grove do you come to?

All of Elk Grove: Old Town, Laguna West, Lakeside, Laguna Ridge, Stonelake, Franklin Reserve, Sheldon, East Elk Grove, the Camden streets and the Laguna Creek greenbelt blocks, plus Florin, Vineyard, Galt and Wilton on the same southern Sacramento routes. Travel is included in the groom price for every address inside the area. Share the full address when you book and we confirm it.

My dog walks the greenbelt every morning. What should I watch for in summer?

Foxtails. Once the grass along Elk Grove's creeks and trails dries out, from late spring through the heat, the barbed seed heads catch in paws, ears and noses and cannot work their way back out; Valley vets see foxtail cases all summer. Check between the toes after each walk, and tell us if your dog has been sneezing hard or shaking his head. Your groomer combs feet, ears and armpits closely on every visit and trims the hair between the pads, which gives a foxtail less to catch on. One local rule worth knowing: Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge allows no pets, on or off leash, so the Blue Heron Trails are a walk you take without the dog.

We live in a gated community in Elk Grove. Can the van still come?

Yes. Elk Grove has plenty of gated and private streets, and the van needs about 120 minutes in your driveway or at your curb with its own water and power, nothing from the house. Send the gate code and your community's guest-parking rule when you book; most allow a service vehicle in a driveway or a guest space, and we settle the spot before the day, never on it. Your groomer texts when they are on the way, so you can open the gate from the couch.

Do you groom cats in Elk Grove?

Yes, at every Elk Grove address. Cat grooming happens in the same quiet, self-contained van, one-on-one with no dogs around: a Cat Bath is a flat $140 and a Cat Bath + Haircut a flat $180. Long-haired cats that shed hard once the valley heat arrives do especially well on a steady schedule. Tell us how your cat feels about being handled when you book and the groomer paces the visit to suit them.
