What you stop doing
Citrus Heights keeps its traffic on the boulevards. Sunrise, Greenback, Auburn and Antelope carry the cars to the shops and the freeway, and between them sit the quiet residential streets of Sunrise Ranch, Park Oaks, Birdcage Heights and Rusch Park, most of them with a driveway the van fits in. That driveway is where the groom happens: your dog walks out your own front door and back in about two hours later, with no ride down Sunrise Boulevard to a salon and no cage while another dog goes first. The van heats its own water, so the bath is warm even when the December fog sits on the valley, and the dry is done before a July afternoon turns hot. Both of the city's ZIP codes, 95610 and 95621, sit on our Sacramento routes, so the north side by Antelope and the south side toward Fair Oaks get the same visit. Apartments and townhomes off Greenback Lane are welcome too; tell us where guest parking is when you book.

Your groomer texts when they are on the way, then the van pulls up to your curb with its own warm water and power. No drive, no cages, no waiting room.

About 120 min · about 180 for large dogsClean coat, trimmed nails, clean ears, fully dry, and a tail that will not stop wagging. Both handoffs together take about five minutes.
In our example salon morning, about 2 h 30 min goes to driving, traffic and the counter. With Wow My Dog, the groom happens at your curb while you get on with your day: about 5 min of handoffs, so about 2 h 30 min back.

We had an incredible service with Patricia today. She was very nice and made sure to understand what kind of haircut we wanted and made it more than perfect. I love Wow my Dog and I truly recommend it. Every groomer that has seen our girl knows exactly what they are doing, they are very friendly and it clearly shows that they are professionals and really love what they do. I wish I could give you a 10 start review! You definitely have surpassed our expectations . Thank you so much.

We have had a wonderful experience with Wow My Dog Mobile Grooming Service! Our groomer, Rene, does an exceptional job with our two Chihuahuas. One is long-haired and requires a little extra time and attention, and Rene is incredibly patient, thorough, and detail-oriented. Both of our dogs are comfortable with him and genuinely seem to enjoy the entire grooming experience. It is such a relief knowing they are in caring, capable hands. We highly recommend Rene and Wow My Dog!

Our French bulldog Rusty had an amazing experience with Juliana. We received a grooming report with photos and it was so convent and arrival was on time. The entire process was so smooth and I’m so glad I found Wow! My dog! Rusty looks so clean and smells fresh! Thank you so much!

I cannot say enough good things about Wow! My dog! I have tried several mobile groomers in the past, and honestly, none of them did a good job until now. We have both a double-coated, long-haired dog and a long-haired cat, which is already a lot of coat to manage. On top of that, our dog has sebaceous adenitis, requiring extra delicate and careful handling. I was so impressed with how clean, thoroughly dry, and beautifully groomed both of my pets came out. They handled their unique skin and coat needs with such care and expertise. I am officially putting them on a monthly bath schedule for my pets and they've earned a customer for life! Highly recommend!

Gustavo was our grooming yesterday, and he was great at listening to our requests for DOOM. Though a little late due to traffic, the session itself was almost less than an hour, which was fantastic! DOOM had a bath, as well as the teeth, brushing and mouth spray, and we had specifications on what parts of his fur should be trimmed, which would just actually be around his feet, and Gustavo executed perfectly. We actually had doubts for this groomer, as a previous one, returned to our dog with red eyes, which was alarming since it wasn’t communicated prior to the session ending, which for us was a really big deal. We gave them another shot, and Gustavo did really well. We had a slight language barrier issue, and Gustavo whipped out the Google translate, which I think was very proactive, and answered any questions that would help put us at ease. On top of that, he also sent a few pictures during the session of DOOM to put us more at ease, which I really appreciated. Safe to say, I will happily be rebooking for the next grooming session. Thanks, Gustavo!

Real parks, real trails, and what they do to a coat. Notes from the groomer's side of the van.

Snapshot 01 · Parks
Parks in Citrus Heights belong to the Sunrise Recreation and Park District, and the one with a fenced dog area is C-Bar-C Park at 8275 Oak Avenue. It covers about 25 acres and is open from sunrise to sunset, with a creek, an unpaved trail, a paved walkway and a garden and nature area alongside the ball fields and 170 parking spaces, so a Saturday visit rarely means circling the lot. A dog that runs the fence line and then noses along the creek comes home with dusty paws and a damp belly, and the warm-water bath takes care of both.

Snapshot 02 · Trails
Arcade Creek Park Preserve, on Bonham Circle, is ten acres along the creek with two unpaved trails, a paved walkway and a nature area, open sunrise to sunset. Sunrise Parks posts the Sacramento County park ordinance, and its dog rule is specific: a leash no longer than six feet, strong enough that the dog cannot break it, the dog under your full control the whole time, and every mess bagged and binned. Animals are also kept at least fifteen feet from any area marked as a nature study area. Creekside walks put burrs and seed heads in the feathering, which the groomer combs out before the shampoo goes on.

Snapshot 03 · Licensing
Citrus Heights runs its own Animal Services, and Municipal Code 8-90 asks every owner of a dog or a cat older than four months to license it. The city needs a current rabies certificate first, and it points out that a rabies tag is not a license; a year for a spayed or neutered pet is $17. Animal Services also microchips city pets for free, mostly on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, by appointment, and answers questions at (916) 725-7387. Cats are as welcome in the van as dogs, so the newly licensed cat can have a quiet one-on-one groom at home as well.
City of Citrus Heights pet licensing and microchippingGroomer's note, coat care around Citrus Heights: Citrus Heights summers are long, hot and dry, and by late spring the grass along Arcade Creek and the open lots has gone to seed, so foxtails and burrs ride home in ears, armpits and the gaps between toes. Double coats hold the heat close and pack dead undercoat underneath. A warm-water bath and a full blow-out at your curb lifts the dust and loose coat, and the groomer checks ears and feet for seeds at every visit. Shepherds, huskies and other heavy shedders are happiest on a four-to-six-week rhythm from May to October; doodles and poodle mixes stay comfortable with a trim on the same schedule all year.

Yes, both ZIP codes, 95610 and 95621: Sunrise Ranch, Birdcage Heights, Rusch Park, Park Oaks, Arcade Creek, the Sylvan Old Auburn Road area and the northwest corner up toward Antelope. Roseville, Orangevale, Fair Oaks and Carmichael are on the same routes, so an address on the city line is easy. Travel is included in the groom price for every Citrus Heights address; put the full address in your booking and we confirm the visit.
Yes. The van is about the size of a delivery truck and parks in guest parking or at the curb outside your complex, where it stays for about 120 minutes. Send the gate code and where visitors are allowed to park when you book. The van carries its own warm water and power, so it needs nothing from your unit: you walk your dog out on a leash, the groomer takes it from there, and your pup comes back to your door clean and dry.
Every four to six weeks suits most daily creek walkers, with a bath-only visit in between after a muddy winter week. From late spring the dry grass along the trail sheds seed heads that catch in feathering, ears and paws, and a dog that keeps shaking its head or licking one foot may be carrying one. The groomer combs those spots out before the bath, starts with a long warm-water rinse to loosen the dust, and tells you if one has worked in so you can call your vet.
Yes, at any Citrus Heights address, apartments included. Cat grooming happens one-on-one in the same quiet van, with no dogs on board: a Cat Bath is a flat $140 and a Cat Bath + Haircut a flat $180, each with the same care as the matching dog package. Long-haired indoor cats that shed through the hot months do well on a steady schedule; bring yours out in a carrier and the groomer lets your cat set the pace.
