What you stop doing

Bath Day, Minus Everything You Hate About It

South San Francisco is two climates with a hill in the middle. West of El Camino, in Westborough, Serra Highlands and Buri Buri, the fog comes over the ridge from Pacifica most afternoons, and a dog bathed in a cold yard stays damp into the evening. East of Sign Hill, Downtown, Avalon and Paradise Valley sit in the sun and the bay wind. Either way the comfort point of a South City groom is warm water: the van carries its own heated tank, the bath runs warm from the first rinse to the last, and the coat is dried to the skin inside the van before your dog steps back out. Parking follows the map. The ranch homes of Sunshine Gardens, Buri Buri and Westborough have driveways, and the van fits. Downtown, on the flats and rowhouses off Grand Avenue and Linden, there is often an alley garage apron, and where there is not we agree on a legal curb spot before the day. Your dog never gets in a car.

No crawl on 101 at Oyster Point or El Camino Real.

The groom happens at your curb, so the drive, the drop-off and the pickup fall off your to-do list.

The four steps

Notes
  1. Step 1

    Book in Two Minutes

Pick a day, pick a time, tell us about your dog. Done. We confirm the day before.

  2. Step 2

    We Come to Your Door

Your groomer texts when they are on the way, then the van pulls up to your curb with its own warm water and power. No drive, no cages, no waiting room.

  3. Step 3

Your Dog Gets the Whole Van

One groomer, one dog, start to finish. No other dogs, no crate, no rushing. You get on with your day.

About 120 min · about 180 for large dogs
  4. Step 4

Back in Your Arms, Fresh and Dry

Clean coat, trimmed nails, clean ears, fully dry, and a tail that will not stop wagging. Both handoffs together take about five minutes.

In our example salon morning, about 2 h 30 min goes to driving, traffic and the counter. With Wow My Dog, the groom happens at your curb while you get on with your day: about 5 min of handoffs, so about 2 h 30 min back.

    Yelp

We have had a wonderful experience with Wow My Dog Mobile Grooming Service! Our groomer, Rene, does an exceptional job with our two Chihuahuas. One is long-haired and requires a little extra time and attention, and Rene is incredibly patient, thorough, and detail-oriented. Both of our dogs are comfortable with him and genuinely seem to enjoy the entire grooming experience. It is such a relief knowing they are in caring, capable hands. We highly recommend Rene and Wow My Dog!

Dog Life in South San Francisco

Real parks, real trails, and what they do to a coat. Notes from the groomer's side of the van.

Centennial Way Trail

Snapshot 01 · Trails

Centennial Way, three miles on top of BART

When BART came down the Peninsula, the city built a linear park on the strip of land over the tube. Centennial Way runs three miles through the middle of town, from the South San Francisco BART station to the San Bruno station, as a ten-foot asphalt path with gravel shoulders, lighting, signalized crossings at Spruce and Chestnut and flashing in-ground lights at Orange Avenue. The city lists eight entries, among them Spruce Avenue west of Huntington, Orange Avenue at Memorial Drive, Chestnut at Antoinette Lane and Mission Road at the BART bridge. The dog park sits beside it at the Orange Avenue end, next to the Orange Memorial Park picnic area.

Snapshot 02 · Hills

Sign Hill, 65 acres above Grand Avenue

Sign Hill is the city's largest natural open space, 65 acres with nearly two miles of trail and the 1923 hillside sign on its face. The Ridge Trail runs 0.77 miles from the Ridgeview Court lot to Spruce Avenue and is the gentle one; the Seubert, Iris and Letters trails climb the south face from Poplar Avenue, with 400 to 600 feet of gain in a quarter mile. Dogs are welcome, which is rare for a Bay Area open space, on a leash of six feet or less and on the trail, since the slopes are mission blue butterfly habitat. Open sunrise to sunset, no water on the hill, coyotes about, and the wind up top is its own weather.

Meters, city lots and the Miller garage downtown

Downtown South City parks on meters, city surface lots and the Miller Avenue Parking Garage. Meters run $1.50 an hour in the downtown core and $1.25 elsewhere, the garage sells monthly and quarterly permits, and nothing may sit on a city street or lot for 72 hours straight. New meter and permit rates took effect on October 9, 2026, so check the city page before you feed one. For a Grand Avenue flat the groomer plans the stop with you before the day: the alley apron behind the building, the curb outside, or a lot space a block away. The van carries its own warm water and power, so that spot is all it needs.

Downtown parking, City of South San Francisco

Groomer's note, coat care around South San Francisco: A South City coat records the week: fog damp from a Westborough yard, dry grass and foxtails from Sign Hill in summer, mud from the same trails in winter, and salt wind off the bay at Oyster Point. Damp that never fully dries is where mats start on curly and long coats. A warm-water bath and a full blow-out at your curb clears the lot. Sign Hill regulars get a check for foxtails in ears, armpits and between the toes, and doodle-type coats stay on a steady trim schedule here so the fog never gets a hold between visits.

Pre-groom checklist · South San Francisco
Which South San Francisco neighborhoods do you cover?

All of South San Francisco: Westborough, Serra Highlands, Buri Buri, Sunshine Gardens and Winston Manor west of El Camino; Avalon, Brentwood, Mayfair Village and Francisco Terrace in the middle; Sign Hill, Downtown, Paradise Valley, Southwood and Terrabay on the east side. San Bruno, Daly City, Colma, Brisbane and San Francisco are on our routes too, so a border street is no problem. Share your full address when you book and we confirm it.

We live in Westborough, where the fog comes in most afternoons. Does that change the groom?

Yes: the bath is warm and the dry is complete. The van carries its own heated water, so the groom starts with a warm-water rinse instead of a cold hose, and your dog is dried all the way to the skin inside the van before the door opens. A coat that stays damp in the fog is where mats start on curly and long-haired dogs, so expect your groomer to suggest a steady schedule for a doodle-type or long coat, and a bath-only visit in between when the gray weeks run long.

I live in a flat off Grand Avenue with no driveway. Can you still come?

Yes. Downtown South San Francisco parks on meters, city surface lots and the Miller Avenue garage, and the groomer plans a legal spot with you before the day: the alley apron behind your building, the curb outside, or a lot space a block away. Nothing may sit on a city street or lot for 72 hours straight, and a groom takes about 120 minutes, so that rule never comes up. The van carries its own warm water and power and needs nothing from your flat, and travel is included in the groom price for every South San Francisco address.

Do you groom cats in South San Francisco?

Yes, at every South San Francisco address, apartments and flats included. Cat grooming happens in the same quiet, self-contained van, one-on-one with no dogs around: a Cat Bath is a flat $140 and a Cat Bath + Haircut a flat $180, flat, with no surprises at the door. Carry your cat down in a carrier, the groomer takes it from there, and a long-haired cat that mats in the Westborough damp does especially well on a regular schedule.
